Air as an ideal gas with cp= 0.241 Btu/lb*R is compressed from a state where the pressure is 3 atm and the temperature is 80F to a state where the pressure is 10 atm and the temperature is 240F. Can this process occur adiabatically? if yes, determine the work per unit mass of air, in Btu/lb, for an adiabatic process between these states. If no, determine the direction of the heat transfer.
