A developer has proposed a 650-unit residential development adjacent to the landfill. The proposal includes using the gas generated from the landfill to heat the homes (and mitigate odors). To determine the economic feasibility of the proposal, the value of the gas for heating purposes must be determined. Determine whether the quantity is sufficient for heating the development. Is this economically more attractive than using fuel oil? Is it operationally feasible?
