Determine the value of transmission center frequency

Assignment:

Assume a transmission over a coaxial cable of a baseband information signal a(t), which is then shifted to the center frequency f0 = 1 MHz. The cable acts as a filter with impulse response

gCh = G δ(t - t0)

Where t0= (1.6)-1 10-6s and G is a parameter that depends on the transmission center frequency. The cable attenuation at 4 MHz is 6 dB.

a) Determine the value of G for this transmission.

b) Assuming the information signal a(t) = cos(2πƒat) V con ƒa= 0.2MHz, determine the expression of the received signal.

c) Determine if the channel is distorting the signal of point b), justifying the answer.

d) Determine the system output SNR for an information signal with bandwidth 10 kHz, statistical transmit power 4 V2 and white noise at the receiver input with PSD 1 · 10-5 V2/Hz.
