The two large, parallel conducting plates of area A are separated by a distance d. One side of the plates consists of a length l. The two dielectric slabs, both with the similar area A and length l as the plates, and thickness d are inserted among the plates so that they touch in the center. (Half the slabs thus lie exterior the plates.)
i) When charges Q and –Q are placed on the plates, find the energy of the system?
ii) Determine the total force on the two slabs due to the plates? Which way do the plates accelerate?
