Determine the technique - Parallel
With this approach, old and new systems are run together for a time
- If new system goes down for any reason, you still have old system to fall back on so a failure wouldn't be disastrous
- It's possible to gradually train staff/time to get used to new system
- More expensive than direct since need extra staff to run both systems
- More time consuming as both systems need to be run and evaluated
