A 45 MW turbine receives steam from 3 boilers. The first inlet has a mass flow rate of 10 kg/s at 4000 kPa and 800 deg C; the second inlet mass flow rate is 15 kg/s at 2000 kPa and 600 deg C; and the third boiler supplies steam at 1000 kPa and 500 deg C at a rate of 25 kg/s. The exit state is saturated mixture with a quality of 0.95 at 50 kPa. The temperature of the surroundings is 25 deg C.
Determine:
a) The rate of entropy generated for the turbine (answer: -25 kW/K)
b) The rate of entropy change of the surroundings (answer: 41 kW/K)
c) The total entropy generated, in kW/K
