A steel post (E= 30 ×106 psi) having thickness t = 1/8 in. and height L = 72 in. supports a stop sign (see figure). The stop sign post is subjected to a bending moment M having its vector at an angle θ. to the z axis.

Determine the orientation of the neutral axis and calculate the maximum tensile stress σt and maximum compressive stress σc in the beam. Assume that θ= 30° and M 5.0 k-in.
