A hydroelectric turbine generator produces an electric power of 20 MW(megawatts). Water enters the turbine penstock at point 1 and exists the turbine at point 2 as shopwn in the figure. the known information for the inlet and exit are as follows: P1= 1100 kPa P2= 100 kPa T = 25 C A = 20 m^2 z1 = 20 m z2 = 5 m The turbine generator is adiabatic and in steady state condition. Do not neglect kinetic or potential energy unless you can substantiate your assumptions.

a) Determine the mass flow rate of the water through the turbine generator in kg/s

b) If the shaft inside the generator system transmits 22 MW of power at a potential speed of 100 rpm, what is the torque of the shaft?
