Assignment:
Contact a local or state probation and parole office, and interview an officer. Determine the following information: the officer's duties, background, case load, ideas behind parole and probation, amount of time actually spent with each parolee each month, the needs of the agency to be more effective, the officer's opinion as to what is lacking in corrections, the past, present and future of corrections as it relates to probation/parole, the officer's interaction with law enforcement, how the first contact with a released offender happens and any other information you deem important. You may conduct additional research on the internet on controversial issues concerning parole and probation.
