Determine the friction torque in the bearings the time


A period of 10 min is required for an applied torque of 1.2 kNm to accelerate a flywheel of mass 2tonnes and radius of gyration 600 mm from rest to a speed of 6000 rpm. Determine (a) the friction torque in the bearings, (b) the time taken for the flywheel to come to rest when the driving torque is removed.
