Determine the exit conditions of the steam if reactor

Show all work

1. A reactor adds 790 Btu/lbm to feedwater entering the reactor.

A)  Determine the exit conditions of the steam if reactor pressure is 1000 psia and feedwater temperature is 424 deg F (assume the feedwater enthalpy is 398 Btu/lbm).

B) Determine the total reactor power IN MW if the feedwater flow rate is 28,600 gpm.

2. An ideal turbine receives the steam above and discharges to a condenser at 5 psia.  Using a Mollier diagram, determine the work done by the turbine  IN MW.  Assume no extractions from the turbine.

3. Determine the Carnot and actual efficency of the above cycle, using the steam tables to determine the hot and cold reservoir temperatures.

4. One lbm of steam is at 517 psig and has a moisture content of 44%.  Determine the enthalpy, entropy, and specific volume of the steam.
