The objective of the project is to prepare a presentation and a written plan to develop and start a new business venture in a foreign country (not the United States). You must choose a city and country from one of the following four geographic regions: Europe, Americas, Asia, or the Middle East and Africa. The Final Project will include both a presentation and a written business plan (paper). To begin this project, you must complete the following steps:
Investigate possible business ventures in another country.
Determine the country and business you will research.
Document the politics, law, and economic systems and development in your chosen country.
Research the culture(s) of the country you have chosen and document how these cultures will impact (both positive and negative) your business as well as how you plan to incorporate the culture into your venture.
Research the international trade and business-government trade relations affecting your business.
Determine how you will invest in this foreign enterprise.
Analyze the impact (if any) of the international financial markets and monetary systems on your venture.
Document how you will execute all phases of International Business Management
Presentation: You must create a 10-12 slide PowerPoint presentation (not including title and reference slides) on a business venture that could be up and running in a foreign country in the next six to twelve months. The presentation is a business plan and should address all the pertinent areas of business, technology, and management as research in the steps outlined above. Specifically, it should document how you will execute all phases of the International Business Management for your venture. Include your main points on the slides of your presentations and supplement these main points with narrative in the notes section of the PowerPoint. (The presentation should last 15-20 minutes if presented orally.) You will be graded on your display of knowledge of International Business as well as professionalism, salesmanship, presentation skills, spelling, grammar, creativity, and thorough coverage of all the project topics.
Paper: The purpose of this written business plan is for you to apply concepts and techniques learned in this class to a real-life situation. You should draw from the course materials (books, handouts, and class discussions for information) and integrate research conducted throughout the course. Your paper should be 6-8 pages in length (not including cover and reference pages) and should summarize the work performed and conclusions made regarding the project. It should also include any relevant material in the appendices (e.g. surveys, census). The paper, citation, and reference page must be formatted according to APA guidelines.
