Determine the correct p-value


A friend has carried out a significance test of null hypothesis that two means are equal. His report describes that the null hypothesis is rejected in favor of alternative that the first mean is larger than the second. In the presenatation on his work, he notes that the first sample mean was larger than second mean and this is why he chose this specific one-sided alternative.

(a) Discuss what is wrong with your friends procedure and why.

(b) Assume he reported t = 1.70 with a P-value of 0.06. Determine the correct P-value that he should report?
