Determine the angle of incidence of the beam

A sub-marine is 3.09*10^2 m horizontally out from the shore and 1.09*10^2 m below the surface of the water. A laser beam is sent from the sub-marine so that the beam hits the surface of the water 2.16*10^2 m from the shore. The building stands on the shore and the laser beam strikes a target at the top of the building. The goal is to determine the height of the target over sea level.

(i) Sketch a diagram of the situation, recognizing the two triangles which are significant to finding the solution.

(ii) Determine the angle of incidence of the beam hitting the water-air interface.

(iii) Determine the angle of refraction.

(iv) At what angle does the refracted beam form with respect to the horizontal?

(v) Determine the height of the target over sea level.
