Determine rate of heat transfer to steam passing boiler


Water is the working fluid in as ideal Rankine cycle. Saturated vapor enters the turbine at 16 MPa (state 1) and the condensed pressure is 8 kPa. The mass flow rate of steam entering the turbine is 120 kg/s. Assume steady state operation and kinetic and potential energy effects are negligible. Determine:

a. Show cycle on T-s Diagram
b. the net power developed, in kW
c. the rate of heat transfer to the steam passing through the boiler, in kW
d. the thermal efficiency.
