Determine power delivered by the pump to deliver solution

A system for delivering lawn fertilizer in liquid form. The nozzle on the end of the hose requires 20 psig of pressure to operate effectively. The hose is reinforced plas-tic (e = 6 x 10-4 ft) having an inside diameter of 1.0 inch. The fertilizer solution has a specific gravity of 1.10 and a dynamic viscosity of 4.0 x 10-5 lb-sec/ft2. The length of hose is 275 feet and the system is to be designed so that the fertilizer can be applied 10 ft higher than the truck. If the flow rate is 25 GPM, determine:

a) the power delivered by the pump to deliver the solution

b) the pressure at the outlet of the pump

c) the pressure drop due to friction, in psi

Neglect the energy losses on the suction side of the pump.
