Determine maximum distance that block can be placed


The uniform beam of mass 40 kg is supported by the rope which is attached to the end of the beam, wraps over a rough peg, and is then connected to the 80 kg block. If the coefficient of static friction between the beam and the block is u_s=0.4 , and between the rope and the peg is u_s= 0.5 s, determine: the maximum distance that the block can be placed from A and still remain in equilibrium.
