Determine if there is a difference in the average years

A Marketing Group prepared a pamphlet to help prospective buyers determine the nature of neighborhood stability. A sample of 14 homes in the Southern Bend area showed that owners had lived in their homes an average of 9.6 years with a standard deviation of 1.8 years. A sample of 10 homes in the Camp Creek area showed a mean occupancy of 8.2 years with a standard deviation of 1.3 years. Test at alpha=.05 to determine if there is a difference in the average years of occupancy for these two neighborhoods. Assume the standard deviations to be equal.
