The firewall will provide a warning that states, "Windows Defender Firewall have disabled some functions of this application," whenever we open newly downloaded software that either needs or suggests using an internet connection. To find a solution to this issue, we will need to investigate which applications the firewall prevents from establishing a connection to the internet. Accessing the firewall and navigating to the "Allow any application through the firewall" menu will allow us to check to see whether the program we wish to enable is already on the approved list. If this is not the case, we will add the application to the list before investigating the specific incoming and outgoing rules that govern the application's enhanced security. In a typical scenario, the program would have two entries: one for the TCP protocol and another one for the UDP protocol. We would configure the firewall to let incoming and outgoing traffic pass through it to guarantee that the application we want to use would generally function while connected to the internet.
