Discussion: Research Project

Identify a generic organization (e.g., manufacturing plant, hospital, educational institution). You will use this same organization in your Final Project. Assume that you are part of a research team examining work groups in the organization to determine factors that enhance or inhibit group productivity. Identify what factors you would examine in your research and provide a rationale for your choice.

Information call center forfinancial group is my choice of organization. First, good communication between research areas are a key component to this type of industry. You must be able to communicate to each financial branch any changes in procedure or monetary amounts in the event a customer has a problem and calls the call center for clarification. As an outside observer, I would first research the different levels of workers working from top levels to the representatives in the call center. Next, I would determine how the information is accessed by each level and important information passed from one unit to the other. When working in a financial call center you are giving out information to people that pertains to their financial wellbeing therefore the information must be correct so how you received that information is important. In this type of setting everyone in the call center has a job, but you work as a team to insure the correct information is provided to the consumer. "In fast-growing companies, applicants may be hired in cohorts and trained in those cohorts" (Losh, 2011).Furthermore, during this time new employees can get acclimated to their position & how their job is linked and related to others.
