Determinant of police organizational efficiency

Assignment:

No matter the career field, title, and/ or position within the law enforcement field, every officer is a leader. All employees can learn from one another at different levels. "Leadership represents a crucial determinant of police organizational efficiency. Supervisors and others in formal positions of power must engage, motivate, and guide subordinates, community members, and other local officials" (Schafer, 2008, pp. 13).

Motivation is an essential requirement for individuals who hold a leadership role. Leadership demonstrates an individuals capability to influence others by providing purpose, direction, and motivation to accomplish the mission and improve the organization. Jesus is a prime example of leadership. Jesus led by example and action while simultaneously following the will of God. The story that comes to mind is ‘Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand'. The typical discussion around this passage is around Jesus just doing a miracle.

But before this, He test his disciples by asking "How are we going to feed these people?" Jesus knew they would try to come up with the answer from the man/mortal perspective, but He wanted them to rely on Him and confirm that they know the Lord will provide. Then He stays consistent with the numbers. After the feast, it was 12 barrels left of the bread, to be left there so people could see what had been done there. So, as much preaching and speaking of wisdom that Jesus did He also did much more in action.

The human service model is a model that stresses employees' ownership, delegation of authority, and the sharing of power within organizations (Stojkovic, Kalinich, & Kiotas, 2012). Leadership is a large number of definitions; however, it is not showing excessive pride and self-satisfaction in one's abilities. When change is needed, leaders provide change by mitigating resistance. Leaders can mitigate resistance by anticipating what others value, their reactions to influence, their shared understanding of common goals, and their commitment to the organization and the leader (Headquarters Department of the Army, 2012). A leader drives and supports their teams to go above and beyond.

Feeding the 5,000 is recorded by all four gospels (Matthew 14: 13-21, Mark 6: 31-44, Luke 9: 12-17, and John 6: 1-14). Christians must bring their lives to God in a spirit of obedience and sacrifice, no matter how insignificant they may think their gifts or talents are (Romans 12:1). When doing so, expect God to do far beyond what can be imagined (Ephesians 3:20).
