Designing the panel with a load factor


Solve the following problem:

Design a panel of length a = 2 m (along x), width b = 1.5 m, stiffened along the length with 5 blade stiffeners spaced at 25 cm. The panel is simply supported all around and it must carry a uniform load p = 248 kP a transverse to the panel. Design the panel (skin and stiffeners) with a load factor of 2.5 and a resistance factor 0.4 on the first ply failure strength. Use the carpet plots for E-glass-polyester.

Assume a blade stiffener with a width-to-depth ratio w/h = 1 (see Figure , not to scale), and a depth-to-thickness ratio h/t = 5.
