Response to the following problem:
Design a nonslender circular column with six vertical rebars and circumferential rebar cage, subjected to a factored ultimate loading Vu = 3.78 × 106 N.
The section properties are: concrete, f ′ c = 27.57 MPa, diameter D = 500 mm; longitudinal steel reinforcement, As = 1, 406.72 mm2 , fy = 413 MPa; FRP, f ∗ fu = 3, 800 MPa, ε ∗ fu = 0.0167, tf = 0.30 mm.
