Designing a circular cylindrical tank

Response to the following :

Optimize the design of Exercise 1 for minimum weight by using a CM1808 from Table  laminate. Since CM1808 has the same amount of 0° and 90° fibers, the transverse strength Fy is the same as the longitudinal strength Fx. Note that 0 ? -orientation in Table is the direction of the 0 ? -layers (if any) in the laminate.

Exercise 1:

Redesign the cylindrical tank of Example 1 using one or more layers of M1500 laminate with properties given in Table . Since FPF strength is required in Example 1, but Table lists only LPF, include an additional resistance factor ∅ = 0.5, in addition to ? in Example 1. Specify the number of layers to be used.

Example 1:

Design a circular cylindrical tank with closed ends subjected to an internal pressure p = 1.0MP a. The dimensions are: length L = 2.0 m and diameter 2a = 1.0 m. Use a load factor α = 1.15 on the load and a resistance factor ∅ = 0.5 on the FPF strength values.
