Design the shell and tube heat exchanger


The condensers of a 500 MW power plant operating at a thermal efficiency of 30% are to be cooled by water from a nearby lake. The intake water is available at 20C and if the temperature of the water discharged back into the lake must be less than 32C. Design the shell and tube heat exchanger based on the information given above: shell diameter, tube diameter, tube length, heat transfer area, pressure drop. Make any necessary assumptions.
