Design heat pump system including number and depth

A vertical, closed-loop geothermal heat pump is under consideration for a new 50,000 ft2 school building in the area. The design capacity of the system is 100 tons for both heating and cooling. The local water table is roughly 100 ft. and the ground water temperature is 55oF. Design the heat pump system including the number and depth of wells and layout of the piping system. Compare the cost of the proposed geothermal system to that of a standard air-coupled heat pump system with the same capacity. Use a projected building lifetime of 40 years and assume 1% inflation in all operating costs (electricity, maintenance, etc.). Include the cost of financing the cost of either system for a period of 20 years.
