Design a single pass shell and tube type heat exchanger which requires mh = 25 kg/s with Th,i = 30 C and mc = 75 kg/s with Tc,i = 20 C. What heat transfer rate is obtained using 150 2 m tubes (ID = 16 mm and OD = 19 mm with kw = 400 W/mK). The hot fluid is water and it flows in the tubes, while the cold fluid is a 50/50 mix of ethylene glycol and water which flows in the shell. Assume hc = 5000 W/m2K. Also, determine the minimum shell diameter assuming that the tubes are arranged in a square pattern with a pitch of 50 mm.
