3.Determine a set of a rectangular beam design values b,d and As that will be needed to support a factored bending moment Mu= 450 Kip-ft.

Use f'c= 4500 psi and fy= 40000 psi. Use beam width of approximately 0.6 times the effective depth.( b=0.6 d).

4.Design a one way slab to support a uniform live load of 300 psf. The beam is simply supported with a span of 20 ft. Use a reinforcement ration ( Ps) of 0.008 Use f'c=3000 psi and fy=60000 psi.
