Case Management: Mrs. Griffith

Read the case of Mrs. Griffith and provide a 3-4 paragraph summary of how a case manager could be helpful with her current life situation.

Consider her current life circumstances, her functioning prior to her fall, and services that she is receiving. Also consider the current problems in functioning that she is experiencing, the types of services that would be helpful, why you would choose these types of services and anything else that would be helpful.

Provide support as to why you would select these services (ie. integrate information from the readings/materials inside this course or others.

Reply to at least one classmate with 1 -2 paragraphs. Within your feedback discuss your classmates plan and identify what resonates with you about their plan AND then indicate at least one other plan that could be considered and why.

These questions are based upon the Reminiscence Activity that was included in the Reminiscence Podcast and Power points slides. In addition, you will need to read the article, Enhancing Forgiveness: A Group Intervention for the Elderly, which is also loaded on our iCollege site for the week. Each question should be 1 page in length (single space within questions/paragraphs and double space between paragraphs/questions). Please number and label your responses. Yes, of course you need citations !! 3-4 citations including the one for parts A or B at the bottom of the page.

1) Describe your reminiscence. (Note: This is considered one question with 3 parts)
a) What holiday did you select? Of all of the occasions that you have experienced, why did you select that particular one?
b) Provide a description of the sights, smells, sounds of this event. Go into enough detail so I can picture what is happening.
c) What stands out for you most about this particular event? Why?

2) Summarize the meaning of the event.
a) What were your feelings about the occasion? Where did these feelings come from? Why ?
b) What was the social meaning of the event - for example, how did it fit with your cultural or religious heritage; how did it represent your membership in a particular family, neighborhood or community; or what other aspects of relationships or social networks were involved?
c) How does this event provide some insight into who you are today?

3) Consider this type of reminiscence with older adults?
a) How could this type of intervention be helpful with a group of older adults? Why ?
b) Besides holidays, what are some other topics that can be used in reminiscence with older adults? What about these topics do you think might help people deal with in the present day? Why ?

4) Read the article, Enhancing Forgiveness
a) How did the forgiveness intervention assist older adults with any issues that they were facing in later life?
b) Contrast the reminiscence intervention that you completed with the forgiveness intervention. What are the similarities? What are the differences?
c) Besides forgiveness, what is another topic that could be a theme for a more therapeutic group intervention like the one in this article? What would the intended outcome be for a group on this topic?
