Professional Writing Writing well is not a gift, it is a skill that is developed. The written word takes no special talent really, it is a skill like any other. Regardless of the path you take after graduation, the ability to write clearly and effectively is critical to your success. Whether you are writing academic papers or writing for the workplace, your future audience will be professionals who need accurate information to make decisions.
In this discussion, you will present two samples of professional writing. Choose two of the following:
1. Professional statement: A professional statement is generally required when applying to graduate school. You will need to write a detailed explanation of why you want to study a chosen subject and how it fits with your academic or career goals. This is an opportunity to describe your aspirations, values, and goals. The professional statement should not exceed two pages.
2. Resume: Present a resume you have used or plan to use for employment. Even if you have an old resume or rough draft, this is your opportunity to tune it up.
3. Cover letter: Provide an example of a cover letter you have used or plan to use for a potential employer.
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
