Problem
Conflict often occurs and continues because interests are perceived as incompatible. Consider a recent dispute you had with someone and discuss the following:
a) If you were seeking help from a neutral third party, would you prefer a facilitative or an evaluative approach to finding a resolution? Does it depend on the nature of the dispute or the disputants? Explain your answer.
b) Describe the role that perception plays in conflict and provide a specific example of how parties might overcome perception problems.
