Response to the following:

The diagram shown below qualitatively describes the phase relationships for Nylon-66, water, and phenol at T >70?C. Use this diagram to draw arrows that trace the following procedures:

(1) Water is added to solution A until the system separates into solution B and C;

(2) Solution C is removed and water is added to solution B until the system separates into D and E;

(3) Phenol is added to solution C until a solution A_ results which is close to A in concentration. Would you expect solutions C and E, or B and D, to contain the higher-molecular-weight polymer? Briefly explain. Outline a strategy for Nylon fractionation based on steps 1-3. Some steps may be repeated as necessary.
