1.) Describe the paramilitary model adopted by police organizations and discuss whether you think this type of organizational structure facilitates or hinders change within police organizations. You are encouraged to support your stance using examples that are discussed in your textbook and in class about the organizational hierarchy that exists in police departments.
2.) Identify a number of hurdles that police sergeants have to deal with when promoted. Which do you think is the most difficult and why? Furthermore, what are some suggestions you would propose to help newly promoted police sergeants deal with your selected issue?
3.) Why do you think it is important to evaluate police departments' implementation of community policing strategies? In addition, identify and describe a few issues that evaluators may face when attempting to measure whether community policing strategies have been effective.
