Assignment:
You have two questions essays and each question's answer has to be 5 pages long. So the total essay should be around 10 pages long, 5 pages per question.
The Questions are :
1- After the death of Stalin there seems to have been a clear recognition by the leadership of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union that some changes needed to be made in the system. What were the similarities in the various reform programs and what shortcomings were they attempting to correct? How successful were these reforms. do you think that reform was possible? If not explain. If yes, explain what kinds of reforms might have succeeded?
2. Describe the nature of 19th century Capitalism and explain why it is sometimes alleged that capitalism means war, imperialism, dehumanizing work and great depressions? To what extent did Capitalism change following WWII? Pick one of the prominent theorists of the mixed economy (e.g. Keynes, Galbraith) and explain how that person's ideas were actually reflected in policy. What led to the abandonment of those policies?
