Problem:
The children seemed to gravitate to the art project as soon as the cardboard wall went up. Crystal made sure to empathise the importance of recycling ad reusing our materials along with reminding the children they can find and use natural materials in our outdoor space. the johnny cakes were a big hit, all children were engaged in the harvesting of rosemary and the preparation of the food. Crystal allowed each child to have a turn of something while expressing the value of growing and caring for our own food which we then can harvest to eat or cook with. The only thing I feel crystal could have done differently was assisting the children to roll their johnny cakes individually instead of all at once. This would have prevented some children from playing with their dough to much which resulted in it becoming sticky. Feedback from families My child brought a Johnny cake home for me. He was very proud to have made it at preschool. Feedback from children I asked the children 3 questions to gather their feedback while encouraging them to share their feelings and ideas openly. 1. What did you like or not like about decorating the art board? I liked using all the paint colours on the sponge and made a rainbow in the egg carton. 2. What did you like or not like about harvesting our rosemary and making johnny cakes? I liked squishy the dough flat. Eating them I had 5 pieces I tried the but I didn't like them. 1.
