Individuals with a short polymorphism of the serotonin transporter have enhanced anxiety phenotype (described briefly in class and in more detail in the supplemental reading). Describe the functional consequence of this polymorphism, and how it may lead to an anxious phenotype. Contrast this with the knockout model for 5HT1a receptors.
