Describe the evidence for hill criteria for causation

Assignment Problem:

Instructions:

Below, I've provided 3 examples of potential causal relationships. Choose one relationship and provide describe the evidence for at least 4 of Hill's criteria for causation. In other words, find peer-reviewed journal articles or other published scientific writing that gives evidence that a casual relationship exists. Explain the evidence found and how it supports the Hill criterion. You must use at least 3 sources (your 4 Hill's criteria cannot be supported with single source). Lastly, select one of Hill's criteria for which you find little to no evidence. Explain the likely reason evidence does not exist for this criteria and if you believe it is possible to obtain evidence for this criteria.

  • Obesity and Type II diabetes
  • Smoking and lung cancer
  • Pollution and asthma

Your report should be formatted in APA style and written using scientific language and standards. In other words, you should be stating facts, not opinions, and citing high-quality evidence (for example, peer-reviewed scientific journal articles). There are no specific length requirements, but I would estimate 1-2 pages double-spaced (250 to 500 words).  You must use at least 3 sources.
