For this problem we will explore the artistic world of surrealism. One of its chief proponents was the French critic Andre Breton, who described the movement, in his Manifesto of Surrealism, as "based on the belief in the superior reality of certain forms of association hitherto neglected, in the omnipotence of the dream, and the disinterested play of thought."
• Compare and contrast the artistic movements Realism and Surrealism, discussing the manner in which they are illustrated in visual art and film.
• Describe the details of a film (or a scene from a film) that has made an impression on you (perhaps something you have seen more than once). Describe how the film (or scene) employed either Realism or Surrealism to convey its message to you the viewer, and why it made a lasting impression on you.
