Assignment:
Ok so I think I'm going to have you do kind of a research paper, or answer what we call "exam questions" for students getting their doctorate. The tasks are not going to be doctoral level, I just want to use the same structure for the questions in this assignment.
Below are 3 topic questions. For each question and/or topic, findand read 3 research journal articles about each area; then write a 2 to 3 page paper including a brief summary of each article, and discussion about how the information in each article relates to the question and your teaching in the classroom.
Question 1: Describe the components of the Response to Intervention (RTI) model and multi-tier systems of supports. How has this been shown to be a successful and effective teaching model, and how could you use it in your own classroom?(Make sure to give examples and cite the research you find).
Question 2: Discuss the effects behavioral/emotional/social deficits have on children with learning disabilities: Are there effective classroom interventions/techniques in this area? How could they be used in your own classroom?(Make sure to give examples and cite the research you find)
Question 3: Explain how a student's disability, low socioeconomic status, and/or cultural and linguistically diverse background can impact their ability to succeed in school. Provide examples that illustrate this impact and discusses what interventions and supports are available.
