For this reflection homework, you will continue to support Mr. Carefree and his daughter Peggy. Please review Module 04 Case Study Advocacy in Action before completing this homework.
You learned that Mr. Carefree is now making improvements in caring for Peggy and spending less time socializing at his local bar after work.
Your task is to write a 1 to 2 pages paper describing your plan to encourage Mr. Carefree's engagement in Peggy's education. Use the strategies you learned in the Online Lecture Best Practices in Family Engagement to create your plan.
Your paper should:
i. Describe your plan to communicate with Mr. Carefree.
ii. Describe the communication strategy you would use.
iii. Include an example of how you would explain to Mr. Carefree how Peggy would benefit from his engagement.
iv. Describe your plan to encourage Mr. Carefree to participate in the program's activities.
v. He is apprehensive about attending an Open House at Peggy's school as he has never attended one before and does not know what to expect. Describe how you would encourage him to attend.
vi. Include an example of how you would explain what an Open House is to him.
vii. Mr. Carefree wants to volunteer in Peggy's classroom on his day off. Describe some classroom activities you might ask him to assist.
viii. Include how you would find out about any special skills or talents he may have.
ix. Describe your plan to assist Mr. Carefree to enhance his parenting skills.
x. Identify how you would assist Mr. Carefree with learning more about typical milestones 5-year-old Peggy should be reaching.
xi. Include the name and web address of an Internet resource you would recommend to Mr. Carefree to learn about developmental milestones for 5-year-olds.
