Discussion:
As noted in this week's video program, the disparity between an organization's vision of where it wishes to be and where it currently is can generate tension. Leaders have the creative challenge of making use of this tension to positive effect.
Bring to mind the organization for which you work (or if you prefer, a public health organization with which you are familiar). Drawing on the theories and strategies of change you learned about this week, consider how you, as a leader, would foster change that you think is needed within this organization as well as within your community.
• Describe steps to take to foster the change process in your selected organization (HIV/AIDS). Provide a rationale for these steps from this week's Learning Resources. What challenges would you expect, and how would you deal with them?
• Compare and contrast this with the steps you would take to foster the change process in your own community to positively impact public health. Again, provide support for your assertions. Explain any challenges you think might arise from this process and the ways in which you would use change theory to bring about positive results.
