Preadjudication Processess in Juvenile Justice
1. The Juvenile Court System in Nashville-Davidson County has a one family/one court arrangement for assigning cases. Once a child has a delinquent issue, the case and the family involved becomes the responsibility of one of three Magistrates. Any time an issue arises with that child, that child's siblings, or that child's family, the matter is returned to the initial Magistrate for resolution. The theory is the Court will be more consistent in the way it deals with the family and will be more familiar with the dynamics impacting behavior. The parties have the right to appeal any Magistrate's decision to the Juvenile Judge for review.
