Assignment task: This week you are asked to engage with three different concepts: relativism, absolutism, and pluralism. In your discussion this week you need to demonstrate that you understand one of these three concepts. Here is what is needed to be done.
Summarize one of the three concepts in your own words and then apply that concept to a current day example. Your summary of a concept should be at least a few sentences (4-5 sentences or so as a minimum) and your application should be the same (around 5-6 sentences). You can write more, but not less. In this last section, you need to tell me what you think about the concept you summarize and list the reasons why. Every position has strengths and weaknesses in terms of how it resolves moral conflict. Having access to the textbook this week will be very helpful. I outline all three positions and provide examples in chapter 3.
Do read the assigned textbook chapter to learn about these concepts in more detail. You can also use textbook examples if you want. A word of caution: don't rely on a quick Google search for answers - these terms, especially "absolutism," can mean many different things. In the context of this class it means "universal." Also, you must include your references if you engage with online sources for this discussion thread.
