Describe patterns of miscommunication between men and women

Problem: The reading by Tannen for this week describes patterns of miscommunication between men and women in the workplace, based largely in different gender role expectations, but Tannen does not consider how racial stereotypes complicate this picture. Consider the short New York Times article "Serena's Not Alone. Women Are Penalized for Anger at Work, Especially Black Women" by Maya Salam for the New York Times on expressions of anger in the workplace. The author at the end asks: "So I ask you, readers: Have you ever expressed anger openly at work? If so, did it come back to haunt you?" Answer this question with consideration of how your own gender and ethnic/racial background may have been implicated in the outcome (you can substitute other environments, like university, for 'the workplace' if this helps you find an example)
