Mrs. Experience has been teaching for years. Each year, she pulls out a Rubbermaid tote for each month that contains the materials she will use to structure the curriculum. She is packing up her Christmas tree when a parent calls.
Mrs. Experience is looking in the closet which holds her totes filled with things for upcoming holidays such as Martin Luther King Day, Presidents' Day, Groundhog Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Easter. The parent explains that she is Jehovah's Witness and is very concerned about the celebration of holidays.
Mrs. E thinks about the Muslim and Jewish students she has taught over the years as well. In the past, she let these children do worksheets in the hall during celebrations of Christian holidays if their parents requested it, but now she thinks maybe she needs to make some changes.
