Describe one method for manipulation of microstructure and mechanical properties for each of the following class of materials: a) metals b) ceramics and c) polymers. The answers should consist the following elements: i) descriptions of the process and changes in the microstructure; ii) explanations of the property enhancement (i.e. what) and the mechanisms (i.e. why) and iii) discussions of the advantages and limitations of the method and give at least one example of material suitable for the method.
