Problem: Respond to classmate's discussion question in 80 words. The mode of adaptation I have used most of my life would be Conformity. I have been fortunate enough in my life where I didn't need to use Innovation or Retreatism. The older I get and the more life experience I gain, I am better able to project different outcomes for different choices. Going by Merton's definitions for these categories, yes I would almost obligationally have needed to commit crimes in order to survive- or at the very least bend the rules as far as I could to still be able to live with myself (honor personal morals). Each society is structured differently, and depending on where you live, crime may have a different meaning for the situation you are in. When you look at Ritualism, it also notes a lack of morals, or personal code to live by.
