Assignment task:
Just a simple reply: My definition of technology's role in society has significantly changed since taking this course. Technology is in everything we do, whether advanced or not, and this course opened my eyes to how technology impacts people's lives in just about every aspect. Also, technology can sometimes be taken for granted, so by taking this course; I value the importance of technology more.
The four lenses approach the study of technology in different ways concerning individuals and society. The four lenses that consist of history, humanity, natural and applied sciences, and social sciences apply to individuals on how technologies directly affect their lives and how they live their lives, and as for society is impacted by technological developments in through all different aspects such as politically, medically and in various other fields that can affect individuals on a grander scale worldwide.
The four lenses represent a way of seeing technology through adoption and how the technologies are used in an individual's daily life. Seeing but also utilizing technology is representative of the four lenses in their definition of how they affect an individual's lifestyle.
An implication of technology in the future is how dependent individuals become on all forms of technology they utilize. That one day, technology can become so developed that it can outsmart people. I plan on implementing a lot of what I learned from this course into my daily life, but more specifically through the humanities lens, because I can have a more in-depth understanding of how much I rely on technologies but also how they improve my daily life and the world we live in.
