Describe how your research can inform a health services

Assignment: Quantitative Analysis

For this assignment, students will be given data from a quantitative analysis (embedded below) and will be asked to analyze it using Excel or Survey Monkey. The Instructor will divide the class into groups to complete the assignment. Each group should submit 1 report.

Step #1: Decide on the constant(s) you will use for this analysis and state it (them). Explain your choice.

Step #2: Analyze the data, state your conclusions and support your conclusions

Since there is only 2 steps, 2 or 3 of us could work on step 1 and the rest on step 2 or vice versa? I really don't want to wait until the end of the week to work on this!

The grading rubric breaks down the assignment into four parts:

1. (Richard & Heather?) Description of quantitative method(s). Justify why you utilized this statistical method for your study. (1-2 paragraphs)

2. (Deidra?) Analysis of the data (Discuss your results and include a separate sheet that shows your quantitative results in tabular or graphical form)

3. (Carol) Conclusions - Describe how your research can inform a health services management issue. ( 2 - 3 paragraphs)

4. (Abby) Explain how the results could lead to the intended or an un-intended improvement in health care delivery and support your answer.

If you believe that the study would not lead to any improvement, state this and explain why. ( 2- 3 paragraphs)

Helpful info from my teammate hopefully this helps with completing my part.:

Deidra,

Originally I thought Richard and I were working on the constants and I started sorting the data by state. I totalled the percentages for each states counties and then divided by the number of counties to get an average. I haven't finished yet but since the constants seem to fall under what you were working on, would you like me to finish sorting and send it to you and it's less data that you have to go through? I'm not sure how much data you have gone through. I figured 50 percentages was a lot easier to look at then 1000s. Let me know what you would like me to do.

Heather

Hey Deidra,

Attached is what I worked on. The spreadsheet has the states overall percentage of medicare enrollees who have visited a primary care physician based on race along with each states breakdown by county. Just based on the data I put together I can see that on average white medicare enrollees had more visits to a primary care physician or were more likely to see a primary care physician then black medicare enrollees. You should be able to plug the numbers/percentages in to make a table or graph.

Let me know if there is anything else you need. I hope your move is going well.

Heather
