The Great War (World War I) killed more than ten million people, heralded the birth of modern warfare and engendered mass destruction on a scale never before known in human history. Dubbed "the war to end all wars" it was directly responsible for the outbreak of second world conflict barely twenty years later. From your exploration into World War I, find the following information and illustrations.

The fascist nations of Italy, Germany, and Japan attempted to dominate Europe and Asia during the decades after World War I, plunging the world in to a second world war. The United States, isolationist when this war began, was eventually pulled into the struggle. This research assignment requires you to use your textbook, Internet sources, and other sources to explore the events of this era.

Pearl Harbor
I. Describe Pearl Harbor before the bombing. How many ships and American military personnel were in Hawaii? Why was this location strategic to the U.S. Navy in the Pacific?
